London Grammar are an English trio consisting of Hannah Reid, Dan Rothman and Dot Major. Their debut album If You Wait was released in 2013 to critical acclaim, reaching number two on the UK Albums Chart and number one on the Australian ARIA Charts. The album has been certified Platinum in Australia and the UK. The group's second studio album, Truth Is a Beautiful Thing, was released on 9 June 2017. It debuted at number one on the UK Albums Chart. Reid met Rothman when they were both students at University College London (UCL), and they formed a band with Major after he replied to their advertisement seeking a drummer. The band's name was inspired by a London Underground station announcement that they misheard. After signing to Metal & Dust Recordings, the band released their debut extended play (EP), Metal & Dust, in February 2013. Their debut studio album, If You Wait, was released later that year and peaked at number two on the UK Albums Chart and number one on the ARIA Charts. The album was certified Platinum in Australia and the UK. The group toured extensively to support the album, including performing at music festivals such as Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in 2014. The band's second studio album, Truth Is a Beautiful Thing, was released on 9 June 2017. It debuted at number one on the UK Albums Chart and was certified Gold in the UK. The album received positive reviews from critics, with The Guardian giving it a perfect five-star rating. Given the emotional and powerful nature of their music, they have featured prominently in many movies and tv shows over the past decade, with a preference for British series. They have featured in shows such as Riverdale, Our Girl, Covert Affairs, Normal People, The Royals, Rookie Blue, and dozens more.
