Mills and Koa are preparing to make the perilous climb to the mountain. Koa notices a peculiar light in the sky on their route to the escape vessel and has no idea what it means.
Mills warns Koa not to eat anything she comes across on the way up the mountain, and he experiences a succession of tiny obstacles that delight Koa.
Koa notices a baby dinosaur struggling in quicksand-like muck while exploring their surroundings. Mills runs to assist and successfully extracts the creature from the muck, but it is later devoured by other predators.

Koa emerges just in time to save Mills by extending out a tree branch for him to hold onto when stranded in sinking muck.
Mills tries to console Koa when she is dealing with the realization that her parents have died. A hazardous meteor shower descends on them as they prepare to take off.
As they prepare for takeoff, they are attacked by a frightening dinosaur. Koa is able to fight off the predator by distracting it with a hologram of Mills' daughter.
Mills has a few minute to pause and think about his family after the ship is safely launched and out of the way of the meteor shower.
