Slightly outside the realm of boxing, but still comfortably in the realm of combat sports is the film “Warrior”. One of the few very good Mixed Martial Arts movies, this film–directed by Gavin O’Connor and starring Tom Hardy and Joel Edgerton–tells the story of two estranged brothers who enter a worldwide MMA tournament and continue to fight through the bracket while being at odds with each other over their father and other familial traumas. It’s a great film with great music including the literal classic “Symphony No.9 in D Minor” by Ludwig Van Beethoven which plays an important role in the movie as Brendan’s (Edgerton) training music.
