Only the Light Knows

The land between belongs to neither you nor me It's an aid we use to help us see the will and the ways that our lives must lead Here or there we may never be We travel by car and we travel by night If there was no other way we would travel by flight And it's hard to say from where the light comes And when it stops running it doesn't stop til it's done It goes up it goes down before it decays and at most it lasts just a couple of days The land between belongs to neither you nor me It's an aid we use to help us see Come to terms with your self every morning you're at home You don't need no one else When all you want is just your self I wish I could say just what makes it go out then I'd have to pay the price of a life without We feel so embarrassed when we let it all go Only the light knows how little we know And when we are sleeping and we rise before dawn only right then now can we know what is wrong You can be the little light of mine You can be the little light of mine
