"Riptide" is a song by Australian singer-songwriter Vance Joy. It was first released as a track on his debut EP "God Loves You When You're Dancing", and later included on his debut studio album Dream Your Life Away. The song was written by Joy in 2011, inspired by a period when he was living in Melbourne and working as a barista. The lyrics tell the story of a young man who is struggling to find his place in the world, and turns to the sea for hope and inspiration.
